So You Wanna Hike with Todd and Amanda
These are the fierce winds of the White Mountains. These clouds are whipping through the saddle between the peaks of Mt. Adams and Mt. Madison. Keep in mind, while these winds were blowing, it was pleasant and 70 down in the valley.
Here's Amanda coming up in the strong winds. Very strong. 45 - 60 mph, with the highest gust of the day recorded at 80 mph (over on Mt. Washington). Whether or not we were on the mountain at the time of the wind, needs to be determined. But if I'm drinking beers telling the fellas about it, it was 80. I often wished I had some kite string with me so I could attach it to Amanda. Amada-kite, a new toy coming this Christmas. The weather report said the temperature with wind-chill was between 20 and 30 degrees.
Here's Amanda topping out. See how she lunges for the safety of the peak maker. Hug the pole.
